Page of the slovakian painter Juraj Sarvaš

Juraj Sarvaš was born in Budapest in 1943. After being graduated in 1966 at paedological faculty in Prešov, he moved to Jakubany, a small village in the north-east of Slovakia. Since 1990 he lives in Stará Ľubovňa, butt still teaches painting at the basic school in Jakubany.
The nature is what inspirates his creation. The biggest part of his work is devoted to the clean, natural compositionaly finished motives and views on Stará Ľubovňa and the Hight Tatra`s surroundings. His typical motives are mysterious little village streets in the centre of natural sceneries, which seem to be forgotten in the present world. The airy, light atmosphere of landscape paintings with an expressive accent, painted in 80`s, is alternated by harmonical panoramas and dynamic compositions with some effort to free himself of realistic fine art. Since then this style plays an important role in each of his creative periods.

The most important part of his work is multicoloured by dominate earth tones, often used with pink and violet shades, painted with oil- or tempera colours. His monumental painting, which one can observe in the Jakubany school and the village hall, is also remarkable. Juraj Sarvaš`s creation, which is caught in his miniatur to large area painting, shows his own real view on the countryside and its special atmosphere.
